ISC 2019 – preliminary results

This year we had 648 solvers (cat-1 261, cat-2 151, cat-3 236) from 48 countries and 49 tournaments in 33 countries.

Thank you to all local controllers. You make this tournament to a great success.

I want to give a special thank to

  • Misha Mladenovic who entered all the results of cat-2 and cat-3 into the STM for those tournaments where the local controller didn’t use the STM and also for all help concerning the STM in general.
  • Luc Palmans for selecting most of the problems and for the excellent preparing of problem and solution sheets.
  • Borislav Gadjanski for his help with all activities concerning Mat Plus
  • Julia Vysotska who improved the solving sheets before the tournament (and for her great help with the results of UAE).

Other rated/remarkable solving tournaments 2019

The 2019 Calendar for other rated or remarkable solving tournaments has been created with the first invitation published there. Results, problems and solutions of these tournaments will be published regularly after the tournaments. Tournament organisers are invited to send their announcement of tournaments in advance.

ISC 2019: Initial statistics

Axel Steinbrink, Central controller of ISC 2019, informs: “At the moment we have 32 countries with 49 tournaments all over the world. New countries: Luxembourg and United Arab Emirates. This is a new record (last year 31 / 46)!”

Solvers’ ratings January 1st 2019

Solvers’ ratings as of January 1st 2019 produced by the Solving Tournament Manager are published!
8 tournaments of the 4th quarter 2018 are included: 3rd Solving Cup Byron Zappas (Greece), 27th Kedainiai Cup (Lithuania), 34th Open Swiss Solving Championship, 11th Albino Cup (Belarus), 1st Pavle Orlov Memorial (Serbia), 25th Belgian Championship , 29th Henk Hagedoorn Memorial (Netherlands), New Year’s Tournament 2019 (Serbia).

The ranking of the top ten solvers remains unchanged. The largest five gains have been achieved by Danila Moiseev (RUS / +51.81!), Ilija Serafimović (SRB / +24.71), Vladimir Blokhin (RUS / +23.76), Aleksey Popov (RUS / +23.64 and Andy Ooms (BEL / +22.06) – three of them juniors!
