15th European Chess Solving Championship
24-26 April 2020 in Poltava, Ukraine
INVITATION
The Ukrainian Chess Composition Committee of the Ukrainian Chess Federation, Poltava Region Chess Federation, Poltava City Organization of Poltava Region Chess Federation have their honor to invite the European national teams and individual solvers of Europe and World to participate in the 15th European Chess Solving Championship. The event will be held from Friday, April 24rd of 2020 (arrival) till Monday, April 27th of 2020 (departure) at the Poltava Palace of Culture (Maidan Nezalezhnosti square, 5). Accommodation offered is the Hotel “Almaz” (further information is provided below).

- Captains’ meeting: Friday, April 24, 16:00-16:45
- Open solving tournament: Friday, April 24, 17:00-20:00
- ECSC 1st day: Saturday, April 25, 09:00-13:00
- Excursion (Dinner), Saturday, April 25, 13:30
- Solving show, Saturday, April 25, 18:00-19.30
- ECSC 2nd day: Sunday, April 26, 10:00-14:30
- Closing ceremony: Sunday, April 26, 16:00 (approximately)
- Departure: Monday, April 27

TRANSPORT
There are a few options for the participants to get to Poltava. Unfortunately, currently we don’t have an airport available for passenger flights in our city, so we highly recommend all participants to take a flight to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, and then take a bus or a train to Poltava. We hope you’ll find our guide simple and useful. Don’t hesitate to contact the organizing committee in case you have any questions.

Accommodation prices include breakfast only. Participation fee includes excursion with a dinner.

The organizing committee will provide invitation for visas if required. Teams or players who need visas are kindly asked to contact the organizing committee.
REGISTRATION
Registration fee is €45 and includes access to all activities including excursion.
APPENDIX
How to get to Poltava
Case 1.If you arrive to Kyiv arrive by airplane. Kyiv – Poltava distance is 365 km. We have two airports in the city of Kyiv, so pay attention at which one you are arriving.
1. Boryspil Airport.
Option 1. You can get to Poltava from Boryspil Airport by comfortable buses of transport companies mentioned in the Table 1, which you can find in the appendix of this document.
Buses depart every hour, collecting passengers from both Terminal D and Terminal F. It is highly recommended to reserve a seat at a bus by phone or with assistance of organizing committee of the championship indicating the exact date, time, airport and terminal of your arrival.
Option 2.Take a train from the Central Railway Station.
If you arrive to the Terminal F you first have to take a shuttle bus to the Terminal D. The bus stops on Your left when You leave the Terminal F.
If you arrive to the Terminal D (or after you arrive to the Terminal D), look for the signs “Kyiv Boryspil Express”, which will take You directly to the Railway Station in the city of Kyiv for around 3 Euro. The station for this express is located on the right side when You leave the Terminal D. You can purchase the tickets inside the Terminal as well. Also, You can always take a Shuttle Bus from the airport to the same Railway Station but it will cost you just 1 Euro more.

After You arrive to the Central Railway Station, there are a few trains you can take to get to Poltava. We highly recommend You to buy the tickets online in advance on the Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railway) website: www.uz.gov.ua/en.
There are also certain trains we recommend You to take in order to travel fast and comfortable from Kyiv to Poltava (up to 05.09.2019, routes may change in future) and we recommend our participants to see the timetable in the Table 2A, which You can find in the appendix of this document.
Other option depending on the time which works best for You are also available in the Table 2B on the same page in the appendix.
2. Zhuliany Airport.First you need to get to the Central Railway Station with a trolleybus #9, which stops near the airport. Or You can take a taxi (it will cost you something around 15 Euro).
Option 1. There is a bus station 100 meters away from the main entrance of the Central Railway Station. The buses of the transport companies mentioned below depart from this bus station. Usually from the platforms #1 and #2.
You can find the list of the bus companies which provide such transportation services in the Table 1 in the appendix of this document.

Case 2. If you arrive to Kyiv by train to the Central Railway Station.

Case 3. If you arrive by airplane to Kharkiv Airport. Kharkiv – Poltava distance is 141 km. In case You decide to take a flight to Kharkiv, First you will have to get to the Kharkiv Railway Station. We highly recommend You to take a taxi in this case due to complicated public transportation system in this city. But we will provide a detailed route to the Railway Station just in case below:
Walk from the airport to the bus station on Romashkina street and take a bus #115Эand get off on the 5th stop on the station “Metro Gagarina station”. There You will have to take a metro from “Prospect Gagarina” station to “South Railway Station” and the Railway Station is just 3 mins away.
So, when You are at the Kharkiv Railway Station, there are a few trains you can take to get to Poltava. We highly recommend You to buy the tickets online in advance on the Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railway) website: www.uz.gov.ua/en.
There are also certain trains we recommend You to take in order to travel fast and comfortable from Kharkiv to Poltava (up to 05.09.2019, routes may change in future) and we recommend our participants to see the timetable in the Table 3A, which You can find in the appendix of this document.
